ABOUT THE PROGRAM
I have spent my life teaching children and enjoying the model train hobby. Some of the most memorable school days was sharing my hobby with children.
The hobby of model trains can help us learn science (magnets, electricity, sound) history (how trains shaped our nation) math (radius of curve track, multiple things to measure) and of course, reading (lots of things to read, not to mention reading instructions).
Carolina Train Shows was founded in 2015. Since then, we operate approximately 10 model train shows per year, exhibit at approximately 20 shows and sell merchandise on-line. For our 10th anniversary, we are starting a program that will help provide our youth with model trains.
With the help of fellow modelers and donations, we are beginning to collect 027 and HO items that will be placed into train sets. Each set will consist of an engine, a few rolling stock cars, a full circle of track, connection wires and a transformer. These train sets will be packaged and brought to shows in North Carolina and South Carolina to be donated to children.
We have begun taking donations and hope to have packaged model train sets ready for our October 11th model train show and sale in Columbia, SC. With your support, we can preserve the model train hobby and put a smile on many children's faces.
